Novak Djokovic has reportedly made up his mind about participating in the ATP Finals 2025, and his decision is something his fans would love. Djokovic is yet to confirm his participation in the tournament, offering a record $15.5 million in prize money.
The 28-year-old Djokovic would be in action against Alejandro Tabilo on Tuesday in the Round of 16 of the Hellenic Championship in Athens. With his family organizing the ATP 250 event, it’s a special tournament for the Serbian star.
Djokovic set to take part in ATP Finals?
But Djokovic has seriously curtailed his participation in tennis tournaments in 2025, rarely playing in events other than the Grand Slams. Since the US Open, he has only competed in the Shanghai Masters.
This has raised fears that Djokovic may also pull out of the ATP Finals 2025 in Turin despite qualifying for he mega event by reaching the semi-finals of all majors this season.
Italian Tennis President Angelo Binaghi, however, has hinted that Djokovic could play in Turin as he shared his hopes for Lorenzo Musetti.
“We have confirmation that Djokovic will play in Turin. Musetti deserves to be in the top eight, and he already deserved it in 2024,” Binaghi said.
Djokovic, meanwhile, is excited to play in Athens after shifting his family to Greece from Serbia. The Hellenic Championship would be played at the Athens Olympic Sports Center Spyros Louis.
“I hope that you guys are as excited as I am and all the players to play in Athens, which has the ATP tournament back again after 30 years,” Djokovic said on Instagram.
“There is great excitement — this arena being one of the most famous basketball venues in the world, home of Panathinaikos, one of the best clubs in Europe. It’s such a historic venue, and it’s a great honour and pleasure to be here. I’m very excited to see you all fill up this amazing stadium and hopefully watch some world-class tennis.”
