World number one Carlos Alcaraz has decided to end his long and successful partnership with coach Juan Carlos Ferrero. The Spaniard confirmed the news on Wednesday through an emotional message shared on his social media accounts, bringing an end to a seven-year journey together.

Alcaraz shares emotional message

In his message, Alcaraz admitted that it was not easy for him to announce the split. He thanked Ferrero for helping him turn his childhood dreams into reality and said that he had enjoyed every step of their journey together, both on and off the court. Alcaraz also highlighted how Ferrero played a big role in shaping him not just as a player, but also as a person.

“Thank you for turning childhood dreams into realities. We started this journey when I was barely a kid, and throughout all this time you’ve accompanied me on an incredible journey, on and off the court. And I’ve enjoyed every step of it so much with you,” Alcaraz wrote.

“There are so many memories that come to mind that picking just one wouldn’t be fair. You’ve helped me grow as an athlete, but above all as a person. And something I value so much: I’ve enjoyed the process. That’s what I’ll hold onto, the path we’ve traveled together,” he added.

Alcaraz and Ferrero began working together when the tennis star was still a teenager, and their partnership turned out to be one of the most successful player-coach combinations in recent years. Under Ferrero’s guidance, Alcaraz grew from a young prospect into the top-ranked player in the world.
