Australian Open 2026 LIVE Score, Women’s Singles Semi-final: Aryna Sabalenka takes on Elina Svitolina in the first Australian Open 2026 women’s singles semi-final match at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on 29 January (Thursday). Defending champion Sabalenka is aiming to reach the final once again, while this will be the first Australian Open semi-final for Svitolina.
Expect a cracking contest as there’s some underlying tension going into this match. Sabalenka hails from Belarus, while Svitolina is from Ukraine. With Belarus supporting Russia in its invasion of Ukraine, the tension can spill onto the court today.
Nonetheless, world No 1 Sabalenka has an edge going into the match, having already won four Grand Slams, including two in Melbourne. Svitolina has never won a Grand Slam and a semi-final appearance at Wimbledon and the US Open had been her best before the latest heroics.
The second semi-final is between Jessica Pegula and Elena Rybakina. Again, Pegula has reached her first semis at Aus Open, but Rybakina is in blistering form. She defeated Iga Swiatek in the quarter-final and has not dropped a single set in the tournament so far .
Former Wimbledon champion Rybakina has also won eight straight matches against a top-10 player, which is not great news for world No 6 Pegula, who has never won a major title.
