Alexander Zverev was heckled by a fan over past accusations of assault against his former partners.

Alexander Zverev was heckled with chants in support of his former partners Olga Sharypova and Brenda Patea, who have accused the world No.2 of assaulting them , after the conclusion of the Australian Open 2025 final on Sunday (26 January) at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne.

Zverev was hoping to win his first Grand Slam title but suffered a straight-set loss to Jannik Sinner who defended his Australian Open title with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 victory.

Zverev heckled with Olga and Brenda chants

After an emotional moment where a visibly dejected Zverev was consoled by Sinner, the 27-year-old faced chants supporting his former partners as he prepared to deliver his runner-up speech.

Before Zverev could start his speech, a female fan was heard shouting: “Australia believes Olga and Brenda. Australia believes Olga and Brenda,”

Both Olga, a former tennis player, and Brenda have in the past accused Zverev of physical assault . The first accusations were made by Olga in an Instagram post in October 2020 in which she claimed that Zverev assaulted her before the 2019 US Open. She later claimed in an interview that, Zverev had assaulted her again at the Laver Cup, a few months after the US Open.

“I was screaming, and because of that he threw me down onto the bed, took a pillow, and then sat on my face. I couldn’t breathe for some time, and I’m just trying to get out of it. I’m screaming and started to run,” Sharypova had said in an interview with the Racquet magazine, recalling one of the incidents.

Brenda, who is also the mother of Zverev’s child, accused the tennis player of forcing her against a wall and choking her with both hands after a heated argument in May 2020.

Zverev had denied all the allegations, however, he did agree to pay €200,000 as part of an out-of-court settlement with Brenda.

Zverev refuses to react to chants supporting ex-partners

While Zverev was interrupted by the woman protestor before his speech began, he did not react to it as he received sympathy from fans who started jeering the woman.

“But first of all, congratulations to Jannik. You more than deserve it. You are the best player in the world by far,” Zverev said in the post-final speech. “I was hoping that I could be more of a competitor today, but you were just too good. It’s as simple as that. Congratulations to you. You really deserve it.”
