Coco Gauff emerged as the highest-paid female athlete in the world for a second year running in Sportico’s rankings while tennis once again was the sport with the highest numbers of players in the top 15. Gauff led Sportico’s rankings in 2023 for the world’s 15 highest-paid female athletes with a total earning of $22.7 million. She is again at the top of the rankings with a total earning of $30.4 million, making her just the third female athlete after Naomi Osaka and Serena Williams to cross the $30 million mark in a single year.
The 20-year-old American’s earnings in 2024 have jumped by around 34%. Just like Gauff, tennis has also maintained its leading position with nine out of 15 female athletes belonging to the sport, the same as last year.
Overall, the top 15 female athletes together made $221 million in 2024 which is 27% more than last year. Also, 11 athletes earned at least $10 million as compared to six in 2023.
Apart from nine athletes from tennis, the top-15 list included three players from gold and one each from skiing (Eileen Gu), basketball (Caitlin Clark), and gymnastics (Simone Biles).
