Among all home grounds, England have a better winning record only at Edgbaston and The Oval. Since 2006 England have lost only one Test out of 17 they have played here. Their only defeat here in last eight years came in 2012 when South Africa beat them by 51 runs. India, on the other hand, have a rather forgettable record at Lord’s. They have won just one, lost 11 and drawn four of their 16 Tests at Lord’s. India’s only win here came in 1986 under Kapil Dev. He is now closing in towards his worst streak in Test cricket. Between March 2008 and March 2009 Cook went through 27 innings without reaching the three-figure mark even once. Cook needs15 runs to complete 4000 runs in England. James Anderson needs one wicket to break Fred Trueman’s England record of most wickets at home soil. Both Anderson and Trueman are currently at level with 229 wickets. Anderson needs two wickets to become the leading wicket taker for England against India. The record is 62 currently shared by Derek Underwood and Bob Willis. Two wickets in the match will also make Anderson the highest wicket-taker at Lord’s, ahead of Ian Botham who has taken 69 wickets. Stuart Broad is one short of completing 250 wickets in Test cricket. He will become eighth Englishman to accomplish this feat. MS Dhoni needs one dismissal to equal Alan Knott’s record of most (54) dismissals in India-England Tests. Dhoni needs 2 dismissals to equal Kiran More’s Indian record of 24 dismissals in England. One more stumping and Dhoni will equal Syed Kirmani’s Indian record of effecting most (38) stumpings in Test cricket. Matt Prior needs 3 dismissals to complete 50 dismissals at Lord’s. He will become first keeper to do so.
