Former India pace spearhead Javagal Srinath believes that playing five bowlers is needed to win Test matches for the country. The 45-year-old former Karnataka bowler today told reporters that playing five bowlers in the longer version of the game is ideal for the team. Asked about India’s performance abroad, he said strong attitude coupled with confidence is needed to win matches overseas. Heaping praise on Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Srinath said he is an outstanding captain and his record proves it while drawing comparison with other skippers. On the sledging issue, Srinath, who is also an ICC referee, said emotional outbursts are bound to occur in professional sports but it must be restricted to permissible limits. At another programme, Srinath, who represented the country in 229 ODIs, said school and college grounds must integrate itself with local state associations to develop its infrastructure to improve sports in the country.
