Sports this weekend: India vs Australia T20, Euro 2024 draw, Man City vs Spurs, Barcelona vs Atleti and more

It’s the first weekend of the final month of 2023, December. Festive season is around us once again with Christmas and New Year around the corner, and so are the sporting festivities as well. The India vs Australia T20I series concludes with the final T20I in Bengaluru on Sunday, whereas in football, top European domestic leagues like the Premier League and LaLiga enters its busy period. Let’s now take a look at the sporting events to look forward to in the upcoming weekend: India vs Australia (Sports18/JioCinema) The fourth and penultimate T20I between India and Australia takes place in Raipur on Friday. That will be followed by the fifth T20I in Bengaluru on Sunday. India currently lead the series 2-1, having won the opening two games in Vishakhapatnam and Thiruvananthapuram, before going down in the third T20I in Guwahati despite posting 222. Bangladesh vs New Zealand (Fancode)  The first Test between Bangladesh and New Zealand in Sylhet enters the fifth day, with New Zealand needing 219 more runs to win with just three wickets remaining. The Kiwis were 113/7 at stumps on Day 4 on Friday, with Daryl Mitchell (44*) and Ish Sodhi (7*) unbeaten. Football European club football: The headline game in the Premier League this weekend is Manchester City hosting Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. Tottenham will be desperate to end their three-match winless run in the league but a tougher test awaits the Spurs against Pep Guardiola’s side. In LaLiga, Atletico Madrid travel to Barcelona, whereas Napoli face Inter in Italian Serie A. The event will start at 10.30 pm IST (6 pm local time). Germany will host next year’s European Championships, which also features defending champions Italy, England, Spain, Portugal among many other top teams. A total of 21 teams have qualified for the group stage so far with three more teams to be determined via a playoff tournament next year, ahead of the tournament finals. Indian Super League (Sports18/JioCinema)  FC Goa take on Kerala Blasters FC in a marquee contest at the Fatorda Stadium on Sunday ( 8pm), whereas Hyderabad FC host Mohun Bagan Super Giant on Saturday in the 8 pm kick-off. I-League (Eurosport)  There are double headers on both Saturday and Sunday. Real Kashmir take on Aizawl FC (2 pm) and Gokulam Kerala host Namdhari FC (7 pm) on Saturday. In Sunday’s games, Rajasthan FC welcome Shillong Lajong, whereas Mohammedan SC face Sreenidi Deccan. Tennis ATP Next Gen Finals (Discovery India) The ATP Next Gen Finals that is taking place in Jeddah reaches’it’s conclusion this weekend. The group stage concluded on Thursday. The semi-finals will be held on Friday with the final taking place on Saturday. Arthur Flis takes on Luca Van Assche in an all-French semi-final, whereas Serbia’s Hamad Medjedovic faces Dominic Stephan Stricker of Switzerland in the second semi-final.
