What exactly goes through the mind of Virender Sehwag before facing a ball? This is question that many of us would love to know the answer for. Does he pre-meditate his shot? Or, as he says, ‘see ball, hit ball’? [caption id=“attachment_2508012” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]

Sehwag, who was mic’d-up when he was out in the field, waited for Alan Donald to start his run-up, hummed a tune to himself, saw the ball on his pads and with one flick of his wrists, sent the ball soaring over the boundary ropes for the six. The song he was humming was the famous Atif Aslam number, ‘Tu Jaane Na’ from the 2009 movie Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani. “You just react to the ball,” Virender Sehwag had
told ESPNCricinfo once
. “If the ball is there to be hit, you just hit it. Don’t worry that this is a Test or one-dayer or T20. You just hit it. Because it’s your routine. Every time you practise in the nets, you just go and see the ball and hit the ball. You are not worried about ‘what if I get out’. You are not worried about a four or a sixer, one or two.” “You just hit the ball. And enjoy the sound. At the end of the day if you hit the ball or defend the ball, you love the sound that comes when the ball hits the bat.” With Sehwag in the All-stars series, the fans got to enjoy the sound before the ball hit the bat and after.
