'If Rohit doesn't get them, Virat will': Twitter hails Kohli's record-breaking ton

Virat Kohli continued his excellent form in Australia and slammed home his 24th ODI century at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), a brilliant 117 off 117 balls propelling India to 295 and also reaching a personal milestone of 7,000 ODI runs.

Kohli had missed out on a ton (91) in the first ODI at Perth and hit another half-century (59) at Brisbane. Rohit Sharma had been hijacking headlines for his back-to-back tons, but it was Kohli who shone on Sunday and broke records.

Kohli has now become the fastest to reach 24 ODI centuries and the fastest to reach 7,000 runs as well (in just 161 innings). It seems the man has been on a mission since the day he broke into the senior team, amassing centuries all over the world. At this pace, he might reach record heights that we've dismissed as unreachable.

Murmurs of him breaking Sachin Tendulkar's records can be heard, and they might not be all that baseless. And those murmurs were also found on Twitter after the Delhi-boy's powerful display. Social media was all-praise for the charismatic Test captain of India, well not all praise, there were a few trolls of course.
