Milan: AC Milan forward Suso was set for a punishing walk home in the rain on Sunday, if he decided to keep a midweek promise to the fans ahead of the city derby with Inter.
The diminutive Spaniard pledged he would walk from the clubs' shared San Siro ground if he scored twice, and was left with a decision to make after bagging a brace to give the hosts a 2-1 lead on 58 minutes.
Milan's bid for all three points that would have moved them up to second in Serie A came undone in the dying seconds when Ivan Perisic netted to give Inter a 2-2 draw.
Suso had yet to score for Milan at the San Siro but pledged in midweek: "If I score twice, I'll walk home, and I live near Milanello."
Milanello is Milan's training complex some 40 kilometres outside the city.
The 2022/23 Ligue 1 campaign kicks off the weekend of 6 August and will be paused during the World Cup, stopping on 13 November and resuming on 28 December.
UEFA said in a statement released late Tuesday it “started the search for a marketing and sales partner” to complete deals within an agreed strategy for three seasons of club competitions from 2024-27.
Aurier has joined the side until the end of the season, with club and player having the option to extend the agreement for a further two years.
