Sensational Sindhu wins Swiss International Challenge

Sensational Sindhu wins Swiss International Challenge

Bern: There is no stopping P.V. Sindhu this year. The 16-year-old sensationally won the Swiss International Challenge in Bern today. Sindhu, who finished runners up at the Dutch Open Grand Prix last week, went one better this time by beating Carola Bott of Germany 21-11, 21-11 in just 27 minutes to win the event. Sindhu, supported by OGQ, had earlier today defeated World No 42 and 2nd Seed Jeanine Cicognini of Switzerland 21-14 21-12 in the semifinals. FirstPost") [/caption] She also beat World No.56 and 5th seed Karine Schnasse of Germany 21-10 21-12 in the quarterfinals and World No.52 and 4th Seed Judith Meulendijks of Netherlands 21-10 21-16 in the second round. Sindhu was in devastating form and did not lose even a single set through out the tournament and won all her matches in less than 30 minutes. Speaking after her victory, a jubilant Sindhu said,“I am really happy to win the Swiss International Challenge specially since I had to play 4 matches in 2 days. 2011 has been an exceptional year for me and I hope I can continue my rich vein of form and win more tournaments. “I have improved a lot under Gopichand Sir. I would also like to specially thank Olympic Gold Quest for giving me so much international exposure and supporting my training”.
