Kolkata: A team of four Spanish coaches from Atletico Madrid football academy will help out former Indian Super League champions Atletico de Kolkata in a selection trial for their proposed academy on 30 and 31 March.
In the first phase, the city-based ISL franchise is planning to take around 30-40 players for their academy. This year the team conducted 16 camps with 2862 young footballers.
131 footballers in the age group of 13 and 202 footballers in the age group of 12 and below have been called for final selection after the conclusion of their two-month grassroots programme.
The final selection will be carried out on the next two days at the Bidhannagar Municipality ground.
"Our aim is to promote football and develop infrastructure for the beautiful game in Bengal. There is no dearth of talent and potential but channelising them towards their respective goals is our priority," ATK co-owner and chairman of SMIFS Capital Markets Ltd Utsav Parekh said.
The programme will also include 'Coach the Coaches' where about 60 coaches from different coaching camps of West Bengal will also participate.
Zidane hinted on Saturday he could leave, saying he believes "there comes a time when it's the moment to change".

Atletico's players and substitutes piled onto Suarez in the corner and at full-time, some of their players dropped to their knees, not with ecstasy, but relief, the title now just one win away.
