Indian rower Sawarn Singh entered the men’s single sculls quarterfinals at the London Olympics after clocking the fastest time in the repechage round Sunday. Indian rowers Sandeep Kumar and Manjeet Singh finished fourth in the first heat of the men’s lightweight double scull and qualified for the repechage. Sawarn set a time of 7:00.49 to finish first amongst five contestants. The Indian was 3.42 seconds faster than the second-placed Dongyong Kim, who also entered the quarterfinals. But the narrow disappointment did not really matter as the rower set things right with a fine performance— leading from start to finish in the repechage. The quarterfinals are scheduled for 31st July at 1530 IST.
