After Sarfaraz, it's younger brother Musheer's turn: 10-year-old set for month-long England tour

Almost six months after Sarfaraz got picked by the Royal Challengers Bangalore to play in the Indian Premier League, there’s more cause for the Khan family to celebrate. This time, it’s because of 10-year-old Musheer — another cricket prodigy and Sarfaraz’s younger brother — getting offered a sponsorship deal by Cricket for Care which will enable him to tour England for a month in August. Getty[/caption] The deal came from Cricket for Care and will allow Musheer to represent the G-Force Cricket Academy team from Dubai. While Sarfaraz is known for his batting, Musheer is a left-arm spinner who has, among other achievements, dismissed India World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh in a friendly match. He has already spoken to his elder brother to get an idea of the conditions in England: “Bhai (Sarfaraz Khan) told me that the weather there will be cold and the ball will swing a lot, while the spinners will get a little turn. So, my aim would be to bowl a basic line,” he was quoted as saying by DNA. His father Naushad added that ’nothing can be better’ for a cricketer to get such exposure at a tender age. Dubai-based businessman Shyam Bhatia (who owns the Cricket for Care organisation) had sponsored a similar trip for Sarfaraz in 2009. On this trip, Musheer will be trained by Level 3 coaches — including former India pacer TA Sekar. Musheer may also get to play at Lord’s and while cricket is his priority, he also wants to see the London Bridge during the tour. If all goes to plan, then the Khan brothers have a bright future ahead of them. Sarfaraz showed enough glimpses of his potential during the IPL and was signed a three-year deal by Sunil Gavaskar’s Professional Management Group (PMG) recently. “I have had the pleasure of watching Sarfaraz bat on a few occasions and he certainly comes across as an exciting young talent. I hope his association with PMG can be a stepping stone towards helping him fulfil his immense potential,” Gavaskar had said after sealing the deal. Musheer , in May, picked up nine wickets in an innings during Mumbai Cricket Association’s (MCA) Summer Vacation Under-14 camp. Two years ago, Musheer became the youngest player to take a five-for in a Kanga League match while playing for Sportsfield CC in the G Division. He is also the youngest debutant in school cricket — appearing for Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School when he was just six-years-old.
