'Rohit only 838 runs short of Pranav Dhanawade': Twitter reacts to his unbeaten 171 in Perth

And just when Rohit Sharma jokes had reached a crescendo, the guy goes out and hits an unbeaten 171 at Perth against mighty Australia. After a forgettable outing against South Africa in the Freedom Series at home, many were calling for Rohit’s head. The Mumbai Indians captain might still be a dubious entity for Test cricket, but he has proved, just when people think his time is up, that he is indispensable in ODIs. Rohit Sharma, like the hottest day of cricketing summer, peaked red hot at WACA and blasted the inexperienced Aussie attack on his way to 171 not out, hitting seven sixes and 13 fours in the process. His record innings, supported by Virat Kohli’s 91 off 97 balls, powered India to 309/3. And just as that happened, Rohit Sharma fans, haters and Indian cricket pundits (which basically means our entire population) dashed to Twitter to have their word in 140 characters. Here’s the best of them:

Some days, Rohit Sharma bats at top speed.
Some days, it's as if he hasn't even come out to play.
Perfect brand ambassador for odd-even rule
