'Rohit only 838 runs short of Pranav Dhanawade': Twitter reacts to his unbeaten 171 in Perth

And just when Rohit Sharma jokes had reached a crescendo, the guy goes out and hits an unbeaten 171 at Perth against mighty Australia. After a forgettable outing against South Africa in the Freedom Series at home, many were calling for Rohit's head.

The Mumbai Indians captain might still be a dubious entity for Test cricket, but he has proved, just when people think his time is up, that he is indispensable in ODIs.

His record innings, supported by Virat Kohli's 91 off 97 balls, powered India to 309/3.
