Rio Olympics 2016: AIFF announces reward of Rs 5 lakh each for PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik

New Delhi: All India Football Federation president Praful Patel has congratulated ace shuttler PV Sindhu and wrestler Sakshi Malik for winning medals at the Rio Olympics and announced a cash award of Rs 5 lakh for them.

"AIFFMedia expresses it's support & solidarity with the sporting fraternity for doing India proud. We award Rs. 5 lakh each to Sindhu and Sakshi," Patel wrote on his personal Twitter handle. "They make us proud. Their achievements inspire the entire nation," Patel said.

While Sindhu became the first ever woman athlete from India to have won an Olympic silver medal, Sakshi is the first-ever Indian woman wrestler to have won an Olympic medal.
