Ravichandran Ashwin turns 30: Celebrities including Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar send birthday wishes

Leading Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin celebrated his 30th birthday on Saturday, just days before he is set to start in India’s Test engagements against New Zealand in Kanpur. Ashwin, who is currently the top-ranked all-rounder and the No 3 bowler in the ICC Test rankings, was wished on the occasion by personalities from various walks of life, including and especially cricketers. Here’s a look at some of the greetings from microblogging website Twitter. Virender Sehwag the Twitter personality has taken the world by storm much like Virender Sehwag the batsman. On Saturday, he was among the first to greet the wily bowler on his birthday.  

  Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar described watching his performances as “a joy”.  

  Then there’s popular commentator Harsha Bhogle, who used the choicest of words to describe Ashwin in his post.  

  BCCI dedicated a special tribute video for Ashwin, featuring some of his greatest moments in whites, including his haul of 6/54 against the Black Caps during their previous visit to India in 2012.  

  ICC reminded the world who the number one Test all-rounder in the world is.  

  Indian cricketers Shikhar Dhawan, Manoj Tiwary and Mohammad Kaif too did not forget to extend their greetings on the occasion, with Kaif describing Ashwin as “one of the smartest cricketers in the modern day game.  

  Members of the Tamil film and music fraternity also joined in on the occasion. Singer and composer Anirudh Ravichander described him as “Pride of the country beyond par”.
