Ranji Trophy: Sachin opts out, Zaheer to play

Sachin Tendulkar has decided to sit out of the Ranji Trophy match between Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh at Indore on 22 December.

However, Mumbai have been boosted by the return of left-arm speedster Zaheer Khan.

Sachin had played for Mumbai before the Test series against England and had also scored a century. But he could not replicate the feat in the 1-2 series defeat.

He managed only 112 runs in the entire tournament and recorded his lowest average ever in the four-Test series.

Mumba's next game is on 29 December, but it is not known whether he will make himself available for that or not. But Zaheer Khan, who was dropped before the final Test will certainly look to get back among the wickets.

Mumbai squad: Ajit Agarkar (captain), Wasim Jaffer, Kaustubh Pawar, Hiken Shah, Suryakumar Yadav, Abhishek Nayar, Aditya Tare, Zaheer Khan, Iqbal Abdullah, Nikhil Patil (Jr), Javed Khan, Dhaval Kulkarni, Sufiyan Shaikh, Ankit Chavan, Vishal Dabholkar
