Rahul Gandhi's newest neighbour: Sachin Tendulkar?

Rahul Gandhi may need to learn to share the adulation of people who come to meet him outside his official residence in New Delhi. According to a report, India's newest Rajya Sabha MP Sachin Tendulkar will be allocated his official residence opposite Gandhi's.

According to a report in the Mail Today, Tendulkar is being allocated a Type 7 bungalow on Tughlaq lane and will have an official bungalow that has five bedrooms and big lawns around it.

The report says that the cricketer had to get the 7,000 square feet bungalow despite being a first time MP due to security concerns.

The bungalow's current occupant, BJP MP Vikram Verma whose term at the Rajya Sabha recently ended, has expressed his willingness to make way for the cricketer saying,"The government is open to allot it to Tendulkar. I would be happy if that happens. The call is of the House Committee."

However, how soon Tendulkar will move in is anybody's guess given that the bungalow is still to be renovated for the cricketer to occupy it and the cricketer has already said that he would not compromise on his cricketing career to perform his duties as an MP.

The cricketer took oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha on 4 June after being nominated to the Upper House of Parliament by the President.
