PSL spot-fixing scandal: Nasir Jamshed gets PCB notice for failing to respond to charges

Karachi: The Pakistan cricket authorities on Tuesday issued a show cause notice to discarded Test opener Nasir Jamshed under the PCB anti-corruption code for not yet responding to the spot-fixing charges against him. AFP[/caption] Jamshed, who lives in Birmingham, is yet to meet with the PCB’s ACU officials or lawyers in connection with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) spot-fixing case. He last played for Pakistan in 2015. The PCB has charged Jamshed for violation of articles 2.4.6 and 2.4.7 of the code and he has been given 14-days to respond to the charges made out against him. The PCB says it wants to question Jamshed in connection with the PSL case and a ACU officer even flew to London this week for the purpose but so far no meeting has taken place. In fact Jamshed has now hired a lawyer to represent him in the case and also in the investigations being carried out by the UK’s crime investigation agency which had also called him for questioning last month after the PSL scandal broke out. The PCB believes that Jamshed facilitated the contacts between suspended Pakistani players Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif who have both denied allegations of spot-fixing and other charges against them. PCB has also referred Shahzaib Hassan’s matter to the anti-corruption tribunal. The PCB said in a statement that its investigations with regard to any potential breaches of the PCB anti-corruption code will carry on as it continues with its relentless commitment to uproot the menace of corrupt practices from the game of cricket.
