Arsenal majority shareholder Stan Kroenke has come under fire for launching an online streaming platform with shows primarily focussing on trophy hunting. MyOutdoorTV, which has been available in the US since 2016, was launched by Kroenke in the UK and charges subscribers $9.9 per month for access to its shows. The online platform, described by supporters as “the Netflix of the hunting world”, is owned by Outdoor Sportsman Group, a subsidiary of Stan Kroenke’s Kroenke Sports & Entertainment. The Telegraph reports Philippa King, the chief operating officer of the League Against Cruel Sports warning the Outdoor Sportsman Group to “tread carefully in the UK.” The report quotes King as saying, “The channel claims to show ’ethical, fair chase and legal’ hunting. Most people won’t agree that trophy-hunting is in any way ethical, and studies have debunked claims that most of the blood money goes towards supporting conservation. I’m not sure in what way an idiot with a gun against an elephant is a fair chase.” The channel includes programmes on hunting, fishing as well as how to cook animals after poaching them. The launch has also widely been condemned by famous British personalities as well as Arsenal supporters who are demanding Kroenke to leave the club.

Aside from the irony of Kroenke engaging in 'trophy-hunting', this absolutely disgusts me.

The Independent quoted Simon Barr, a spokesperson for MyOutdoorTV as saying “MOTV will present ethical, fair chase hunting and as long as it’s legal it will be on there. If you like hunting elephants, there will be legal elephant hunts, ethical elephant hunts, shown in that context.” Barr also stated that before every programme, a message which explains how hunting aids in the conservation of animals will be shown. Supporters of trophy hunting claim that legal hunting finances conservation as the sale of permits for hunting raises millions of dollars which give governments and organisations incentive to maintain the population of endangered animals. Stan Kroenke, who owns 67 percent shares of Arsenal, is an unpopular figure among some sections of Arsenal fans who want him to leave the club and accuse him of running the club with the sole aim of generating profits.
