'Onwards and upwards always': Virat Kohli congratulates Saina Nehwal on her Australia Open win

Saina Nehwal's preparations for the upcoming Rio Olympics received a massive boost after the shuttler went on to win the Australian Open Superseries against Chinese 12th-seeded shuttler Sun Yu on 12 June in Sydney. This is Saina's second Australian Open win as she won the Superseries in 2014 as well. The win comes after a long title drought for the 26-year old as her last win was in the India Superseries in New Delhi in 2015.

Nehwal was congratulated by a slew of celebrities and sports personalities, and at the top of these Twitter comments were Virat Kohli's best wishes. The Indian Test team captain congratulated Saina for future tournaments and revealed his happiness at her victory.

In reply, Saina thanked Kohli for his message and said that she hoped to be as aggressive as the Delhi batsman in order to win more matches for India.

Saina is well into her preparations for the 2016 Rio Olympics. The shuttler remains one of India's best medal hopes in badminton and is ranked No 8 in the world.
