Whenever the Sree Kanteerava Stadium hosts an international match, a large banner with the words ‘One Nation One Dream’ dominates the main stand alongside the usual Bengaluru FC banners. The fans in Bengaluru are in fact quite vocal — they have specific chants featuring club heroes Sunil Chhetri, Robin Singh and Eugeneson Lyngdoh and you can hear them during India games as well, with the three of them now mainstays in the national team. AFP[/caption] But the home fans met their match during the World Cup qualifier against Iran, with visiting fans arriving in large numbers and ready to outshout their Indian counterparts. With Iran taking a lead in the 29th minute (and dominating most of the match), their supporters’ voices became louder — and the Indians later decided to unleash an old favourite: Hum Honge Kamyaab — the Hindi rendition of We Shall Overcome. Iran eventually triumphed 3-0, but India’s fans certainly gave the Iranian supporters a run for their money. You can check out the video below.
