The Paris Olympics 2024 has come to an end with India finishing 71st in the medal tally with six medals including five bronze and one silver. India fell short by one medal to match its best-ever tally of seven - a record established at Tokyo 2020. With six medals India have matched their second-best tally of six medals from London 2012 but it’s important to note that they won two silver medals in 2012 and four bronze.

*The sixth medal for India came in a team sport hockey. 10 out of 19 players in hockey came from Punjab. Also there’ still no confirmation from the Court of Arbitration for Ports (CAS) on Vinesh Phogat’s appeal for a joint silver.
Overall, Haryana won 4 out of six medals for India at the Paris Olympics 2024. In other words, Haryana, which comprises 2.09% of India’s population according to the 2011 census, contributed 66.66% of the medals India won at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
If Phogat is awarded a silver then Haryan’s tally is only set to increase.
