49 out of 117 Indian athletes for the Paris Olympics 2024 have already reached the Games Village in France for the quadrennial event which kicks off on 26 July. All six members of the archery team and a rower were first to check into Games Village in Paris on Saturday. They have now been joined by an eight-member table tennis team, a 19-member Indian men’s hockey team, two tennis players, a shuttler, and two swimmers in the City of Light.
10 out of 21 shooters have reached Chateauroux. The shooting competition in Paris Olympics will take place at the National Shooting Center in Chateauroux from 27 July to 5 August. Chateauroux is around 270 km away from Paris.

“I arrived in Paris on Thursday night and have taken stock of the arrangements inside the Games Village for the Indian contingent. Archery and rowing were the first Indian teams to arrive on Friday and have comfortably checked-in. The athletes are slowly settling in and are exploring the Village,” Gagan Narang, Inda’s chef-de-mission for the Paris Games, had said on Saturday.

The Games Village consists of five residential areas, each named after a well-known area of Paris: Abbesses, Bastille, Dauphine, Etoile, and Fetes.
The organisers have arranged electric cars within the Village to ferry athletes.

Overall, 117 Indian athletes will be taking part in the Paris Olympics accompanied by 140 support staff.
India had a 121-member contingent at the Tokyo Olympics and won a record seven medals including a historic gold in javelin throw from Neeraj Chopra.
