We scoured Twitter and the internet for some interesting statistics from the Rafael Nadal vs Novak Djokovic US Open final, which Nadal won 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. We’ve also included post-match stats. Happy number-crunching! - Nadal won 45% of the return points — a number he has never before reached against Djokovic on hard courts. - He also won vital return points at the same rate when Djokovic was serving at 30-30 or later. - Djokovic won 38% return points. He is now tied with Andre Agassi for eighth most all-time. - Nadal held serve in 95 of 99 games during the US Open, saving 19 of 23 break points and eight of 11 in the final. In 2010, Nadal was broken five times. - With a second US Open title, Nadal joins Jimmy Connors (5) and John McEnroe (4) as left-handers with multiple titles in the Open Era. - Nadal is the first summer sweep title winner since Andy Roddick in 2003 – this year he won the Rogers Cup, Cincinnati Open and the US Open. - Nadal has now moved to No 3 on the All-time Grand Slam titles list with 13 titles. That is one less than Pete Sampras and one more than Roy Emerson. - The US Open win was Nadal’s 10th title of the year. This year, he has a 17-1 record against the top 10 tennis players in the world. Well done Novak! - During Nadal’s 21-match hard court winning streak this year (excluding US Open final), he was broken just eight times in five matches. If you stretch the record slightly, then he’s been broken nine times in the last 16 matches. - Nadal has an incredible 151-3 lifetime record in Grand Slam play when winning 1st set. At the US Open, his record when winning 1st set is 37-1. - The last six Grand Slam meetings between Nadal and Djokovic have had at least four sets.
