India’s javelin star Neeraj Chopra got his first win of the 2025 season at the Paris Diamond League , which was held at Charlety Stadium on 21 June. The two-time Olympic champion took the top spot in the men’s javelin event with a throw of 88.16m, which came in his very first attempt.
Chopra set the tone early with that massive throw and stayed on top throughout the event. Germany’s Julian Weber came close with a best throw of 87.88m, but couldn’t go past the Indian’s mark in any of his six attempts. Brazil’s Luiz da Silva surprised many by finishing third with a personal best of 86.62m.
The win in Paris marked Chopra’s first major victory of the year. Earlier, he had finished second in the Doha Diamond League in May. Weber snatched the victory from Chopra after a massive final round throw. Both Chopra and Weber crossed the 90m-mark for the first time in their careers in Doha.
Chopra will next be seen in action at Golden Spike in Ostrava, Czechia on 24 June and then at the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru on 5 July.
