 "Neeraj Chopra likely to skip Paris Diamond League ahead of Olympics: Report")
Tokyo Olympics gold medallist Neeraj Chopra will skip the 2024 Paris Diamond League javelin throw competition that is scheduled to be held on 7 July, according to a report in The New Indian Express. The report quoted an announcement on the official website of the Paris Diamond League that mentioned “Five Olympic champions, six world champions and twelve European champions in Charléty,” although the article does not mention Neeraj’s name.
Long jumper Malaika Mihambo, pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis, discus thrower Valarie Allman and Wojciech Nowicki, who takes part in hammer throw, will all compete in the Diamond League in Paris, ahead of the Olympics that will be held in the French capital from 26 July.
According to the report, Neeraj will not be participating in the Paris Diamond League because he need not compete there, and his next major event will be the Olympics. The 26 year-old had recently participated in the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland and won gold medal with a throw of 85.97m in the third attempt.

Neeraj, had, however, confirmed in May that he would be taking part in the Paris Diamond League, but that seems less likely to happen now.
The Haryana-born athlete had decided to skip the Ostrava Golden Spike meet on 28 May after he had claimed that he had felt some discomfort in his adductor while training. He had clarified that he had not pulled out of Ostrava meet due to injury but rather as a precautionary measure so as to not take a risk with Olympics looming.
Neeraj is to train in Saarbrucken, Germany till 8 July before shifting base to Antalya, Turkey till the Olympics get underway in Paris.
