Reigning Olympics and world champion Neeraj Chopra stormed into the men’s javelin final at the Paris 2024 Summer Games on Tuesday with just one attempt in the Group B qualification round. Needing an 84m throw for automatic qualification, Neeraj hurled the spear 89.34m on his first attempt to book his spot in the final.
This is also the season-best throw for Neeraj Chopra and the 26-year-old was not needed to take the other two attempts.

India’s Kishore Jena failed to find a place in the final after finishing Group A qualification with a best throw of 80.73. He was ninth in Group A but finished 18th overall as only the top 12 athletes qualified for the final.
Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem also qualified by throwing 86.59m on his first attempt in the Group B round.

Overall, Granda’s Peters Anderson, who was also part of Group B as Neeraj, finished second with a throw of 88.63m, while Germany’s Julian Weber came third (87.76).
