We are not very far from the Neeraj Chopra Classic javelin throw competition as the event has been confirmed for 24 May 2025 at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula, Haryana. The event which has been named NC Classic was confirmed by World Athletics.
It will be a one-day javelin throw event and has been classified as a World Athletics ‘A’ category event which is equal to a Continental Tour Gold-level competition in ranking points. Launched in 2020 as the successor to the World Challenge series, the Continental Tour is a second-tier global athletics circuit below the Diamond League. It comprises four tiers: gold, silver, bronze, and challenger.

Two-time Olympic medallist and reigning world javelin champion, Neeraj Chopra will be the star attraction in the competition. The NC Classic will also see top javelin throwers from around the world coming to India for the first time.
Besides competing, Neeraj is also a part of the organising committee and had earlier spoken about hosting the event will serve as an inspiration for Indian athletes.
“It has been a longstanding dream of mine to organise and bring a world-class javelin competition to India,” Neeraj had said. “I am sure that my fellow athletes and the fans in India will both create an experience that will be spoken about for a long time. I am excited to see how big we can make this.”
This will be the first time Neeraj will be competing at home since the 2024 Federation Cup in Bhubaneswar.
The NC Classic 2025 will also be one of the qualification events for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. Neeraj has already qualified for the September event.
