NBA Rundown Week 12: Kawhi Leonard booed, Grizzlies fight in locker room, Russell Westbrook trolls Lance Stephenson and more

Kawhi Leonard booed No one quite knew how the San Antonio fans would react when Kawhi Leonard, who experienced a testy last season at the Spurs before forcing his way out, returned with his new franchise, the Toronto Raptors. Yet, not many were surprised by the incessant booing and the hatred that poured down on the superstar on his return.

The cheers for Danny Green's return to San Antonio QUICKLY turned to boos for Kawhi Leonard 😬 pic.twitter.com/Oj7C9AhlTD

While Leonard was composed during the game, scoring 21 points on the night as his team lost 107-125, reports indicate that his mother got into an argument with some vocal fans, evening launching expletives at the hecklers.

Grizzlies almost come to blows Speaking of things getting fractious, reports from the Memphis Grizzlies locker room indicates that the team’s Garrett Temple and Omri Casspi reportedly had to be separated after their 94-101 defeat against to the Detroit Pistons, their eighth loss in 10 games. “Things can happen, but it’s for the right reason, and what’s most important is the team,” Bickerstaff said of the Wednesday altercation. “We just move forward and understand that whatever happens to this team or with this team, it’s because there’s a passion about winning basketball games and playing the game the right way. You don’t have disagreements if people don’t care. There’s a reason why it’s going on, and they want to fix it,” Grizzlies coach JB Bickerstaff said at the press conference after the alleged scrap. Three-point fest The Golden State Warriors’ propensity to score three-pointers is well known. But what happens when an opposition team decides to go toe-to-toe (or should we say throw-to-throw) with the Dubs? You get a game with a 41 three-pointers! The game between the Sacramento Kings and the Warriors was so fiercely contested, that the defending NBA champions scored 21 threes, and almost lost! The Warriors eventually edged past the Kings with a 127-123 scoreline, but it gave the league way too many moments for the highlights reel.

Of course, the game was in the news for other reasons as well. Steph Curry left Justin Jackson on the floor!

Later, Curry was called out for a travel while attempting a shot like James Harden, and he made sure to get a point across to the referee, holding up a 13 on his chest, which happens to be Harden’s jersey number.

When he was asked about it later, he said: “I’ve seen that once or twice. Tried it myself. Obviously they got confused. They knew it was someone else, so they called it.”   The air guitar celebration is back! Remember Lance Stephenson’s now-famous air guitar celebrations? Well, if you had forgotten, Russell Westbrook made sure the fans, and most importantly Stephenson, remembered. He broke into the air guitar after teammate Paul George scored over Stephenson in the Oklahoma City Thunder vs LA Lakers game, with hilarious consequences.
