A bizarre incident took place during the final minute of a tight match between the Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries in the Women’s NBA (WNBA) on Wednesday, July 30. The play was suddenly interrupted when a bright green sex toy was thrown onto the court from the stands.
The score was tied 75-75 at the time of the incident. The unexpected object fell in the middle of the play and caused confusion and disbelief among players, commentators, and fans. The referees continued the game and only stopped it after the ball went out of bounds.

The object was then removed by a security official, who wrapped it in a towel and took it out of the arena. A video of the incident is going viral. “Something flies on the court… I think there was something that flew from a fan on the court. This has been one of a kind … can they figure out who did that and get ’em out?” announcer Jacob Tobey was quoted as saying by the Toronto Sun.
Morgan Ragan, who was also on commentary duties, added, “Even so, when you have a lime green item just kind of fly … that’s when the whistle should be blown because as a player you want to feel protected, you want to know what’s going on, and then there’s confusion on the final possession.”
While some players looked stunned after seeing what had been thrown, others couldn’t help but laugh at the situation.
This comes just days after another bizarre moment in the WNBA. On Sunday, during a game between the Washington Mystics and Phoenix Mercury, star player Kahleah Copper’s wig fell off mid-play. The wig landed on the court, and Copper picked it up quickly and went to the locker room as a timeout was called.
