An national-level female shooter alleged rape against an Arjuna Award-winning shooter, who doubled up as her coach. She alleged him of spiking her drink and raping her; the police filed an FIR against the accused in New Delhi on Sunday. The female shooter stated that she and the accused had known each other for a period of two years as they used to practice together, and eventually got into a relationship, with the accused promising to marry her, according to a report on

Getty Images[/caption] The article further stated that the accused, an Olympian who had competed in international events, used to guide the woman, who trained for the national championships at the Sports Authority of India’s (SAI) facility. “A case of rape has been registered at Chanakyapuri police station on the complaint of the national level woman shooter. We will take action as per law,” said a senior police officer. The victim’s medical examination has confirmed rape and the accused has been asked to join the probe, added the officer. The woman shooter alleged that the accused had offered her a sedative-laced soft drink after paying her a visit on the occasion of the former’s birthday. She added that he raped her once she fell unconscious, following which he stopped answering her calls, refused to acknowledge the promise of marriage and threatened to kill her with a rifle and make it look like an accident. The FIR was filed under section 376 and 328 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), as confirmed by Deccan Chronicle
