The Games, that holds of significant importance in India’s sporting calendar, will be held across five cities in Goa — Madgaon, Panjim, Ponda, Vasco and Mapusa and will run till 9 November. This is the first-ever time Goa will be hosting the National Games. Goa were initially slated to host the Games in 2016, but postponements due to various reasons meant that Goa would only get to host the event seven years later. What are the venues for the 37th National Games? Multiple venues across Goa will host the 37th National Games. While the Campal Indoor Stadium will host netball, kabaddi and table tennis, while the athletics events, and rugby will be held at the Bambolim Athletics Stadium. The SPM Indoor Stadium in Bambolim will also play host to some of the sporting events while the Dona Paula beach will host rowing and yachting. Handball, beach volleyball and mini-golf will take place at the Miramar beach. However, golf and cycling will be completely held in New Delhi. What are the sporting events at the 37th National Games? A total of 43 sporting events will take place at the National Games this time around, making it a record number of sports in an edition of the Games. Football, Roll Ball, Kalaripayattu and Sepaktakraw will be among the sporting disciplines that will make its National Games debut, while Taekwondo and Yatching are making a return. Yogasana and Mallakhamb had made its debuts in the National Games in Gujarat last year, and have been retained for this year as well.
