New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated ace shuttler Saina Nehwal for winning the Australian Open Super Series event in Sydney.

Prime Minister Modi took to twitter to congratulate India’s No.1 badminton star.

Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar and also expressed pride at Saina’s victory. VVS Laxman who hails from Saina’s hometown Hyderabad also congratulated her on her win in Sydney.

Indian cricket player Shikhar Dhawan and Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan also congratulated the player on the social networking platform.

“Congratulations @NSaina on your second Australian open title! You make us PROUD!,” wrote Dhawan.

Bachchan tweeted:"@NSaina .. you continue to make us proud to be an Indian .. well done ..Champion at Australian Open!!"
