Fans of Michael Schumacher may have a little hope after news of small signs of improvement in the health of the F1 legend. It has been more than 11 years since the German driver’s tragic skiing accident in December 2013, and very little has been known about his condition since then.
Schumacher’s health condition improving?
However, a fresh report has emerged sharing some positive updates about Schumacher’s health. According to Stefan L’Hermitt of French newspaper L’Equipe, Schumacher’s health may have improved slightly, although he is still believed to have limited or no ability to communicate.
“I would say he’s not doing well, but he might be getting better because fundamentally we don’t know anything. This year, he signed a helmet for a charity event. Was it his wife who held his hand? We don’t know exactly, but it’s the first time we’ve had a kind of positive sign, almost a sign of life,” Stefan told Le Grand Recit.
Schumacher signed the helmet of motorsport legend Sir Jackie Stewart in April this year as part of a charity event. He reportedly wrote his initials ‘M.S.’ with help from his wife, Corinna. This gesture had given fans hope that he might be showing small signs of improvement, and Stefan is talking about the same incident.
Stefan also said that he has not received any direct news on Schumacher’s condition. “So we’re still dealing with someone who is still breathing, who might have some small interactions with his family, but we can’t say for sure that he’s doing well,” he added.
Since the skiing accident in the French Alps, Corinna has kept Schumacher’s life very private. The former F1 champion is still believed to require full-time care at home. There are reports that the 56-year-old is only allowed to meet his close ones, including a couple of friends.
The seven-time F1 champion had suffered a head injury while skiing with his son Mick. He was airlifted to the hospital, where doctors said that the legendary driver would have died had he not worn the skiing helmet. It is believed that Schumacher is suffering from memory problems, is paralysed, and cannot speak.
