Mumbai Cricket Association vice-president Ravi Savant has said he has not heard from the BCCI about the possibility of moving the second Qualifier and the IPL final from the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore. “Nothing has been discussed,” he told Firstpost. “The MCA is not aware of anything.” [caption id=“attachment_1512769” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Mumbai Indians won the 2013 IPL. BCCI[/caption] The IPL final has traditionally been held in the home ground of the winning franchise and the league schedule on the IPL’s official website lists the Wankhede Stadium as the host for the second Qualifier (played between the winner of the Eliminator against the loser of the first Qualifier) the final. However, Ranjib Biswal, the IPL chairman, told PTI that “CCI will host the May 30 game.” While Biswal denied the board was contemplating moving the final as well, BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel said the board was considering such a move because of issues related to venue management and accreditation. “Mumbai Cricket Association (owners of venue) vice president Ravi Savant is looking into these and would get back to us in a day or two,” Patel told PTI. “These issues were discussed in the IPL Governing Council meeting (held on May 3) too,” Savant said he was not aware of any such issues and that nothing had been communicated to the MCA. As he is not a governing council member, he could not say whether the issues was discussed at the meeting or not. An MCA management committee member told Firstpost the the issue at hand was one of security. It seems the police did not allow BCCI officials to drive in to the stadium and park their cars for the Kings XI Punjab match at the Wankhede on 2 May and that upset the likes of Sanjay Patel and others, who want to be exempt from security procedures. The committee member said a meeting was held with the police, who explained they could not simply allow board officials to drive into the ground unchecked when their cars are not registered with the police. According to Savant, the MCA also had no plans to contact the board and clarify the situation. “Why should I contact the BCCI?” Savant said. “I have a contract with Mumbai Indians for my stadium." Under IPL rules, the franchise gets to decide where to play its home games but the venues for the play-offs and the final are decided by the BCCI.
