Preview After a night of New Year’s Eve style partying, Las Vegas awoke ready to rumble on Saturday as the ‘Fight of the Century’ between unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao entered the final countdown. As the sun rose over the desert gambling resort, high-rollers, entertainment moguls and business tycoons continued to flood into town for what is expected to be the top grossing prize fight of all-time. Only the fabulously rich and very famous will hold the golden tickets to the heavily secured 16,800 seat MGM Grand Garden Arena for the welterweight showdown that has been five years in the making. AP[/caption] The Las Vegas Sun reported on Saturday that airport traffic was reaching record volume levels, forcing hundreds of private jets to smaller area airports. With tickets commanding six-figure sums on the resale market, even A-list celebrities were being forced to call in favours, and many were left waiting to hear if they had made the red carpet cut. Fewer than 1,000 tickets were offered to the public and those vanished in seconds. The remainder were divided among the two fighters’ promotion companies and MGM, who will make seats available to their best customers. A Showtime official told Reuters the cable giant, which will share pay-per-view rights with rival HBO, had been fielding calls from anxious A-listers over the last 24 hours eager to confirm ringside reservations. But with demand far out-stripping supply, some celebrities faced the humbling prospect of being shut out or bumped into the upper levels. Seat or no seat, celebrity parties raged up and down the Las Vegas Strip on Friday night with something for nearly every taste and wallet. For high-rollers, hip hot artist Jay Z offered a mega-expensive $50,000 (£33,027) a table VIP bash around the megafight while P. Diddy threw a poolside bash with a $10,000 a table cover complete with Sports Illustrated swimsuit models. The souvenir black market was also doing brisk business with vendors reaching into plastic garbage bags and pulling out knockoff fight T-shirts at less than half the $35 price tag at officially licenced kiosks inside the casinos. Showtime confirmed to Reuters the fight will have an Oscars-worthy front row with Hollywood royalty like Clint Eastwood and Robert De Niro, squeezed in alongside celebrities from the sport world such as New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and the team’s billionaire owner Robert Kraft. Only a lucky few will get the chance to view the fight live while everyone else will have to watch on pay-per-view. “You know what, I go to all of Floyd’s fights and the last time I spent $2,700 on the Canelo Alvarez fight in 2013,” Mayweather fan Scott Avig from Detroit told Reuters in Las Vegas. “I was willing to spend about $3,000 for this fight, for a decent seat. The problem was with those prices you are way up in the top. “The secondary market is ridiculous this time.” Even with tickets out of reach for the average person, the Las Vegas tourism and convention bureau estimated between 150,000 to 200,000 fight fans will invade Las Vegas to be part of buzz, Crowd control will be the main security focus with Mayweather’s last two fights at the MGM Grand ending in stampedes and injuries. After a Mayweather-Marcos Maidana bout last May, 60 people were injured while the rematch in September also ended in crowd trouble and injuries. Reuters

Louds boos from the crowd after the decision.
Mayweather: “I want to thank all the fans that came to Las Vegas. He is a hell of a fighter. I take my hat of to him. Now I see why he is one of the guys who is at the pinnacle of nboxing. I know he was going to win some rounds. He had moments but I kept him on the outside. I didn’t get hit with a lot of shots. I am a calculated fighter. Manny is a tough fighter. I had to take my time and watch him very close.
“When the history book is written, it was worth the wait.”

Mayweather looking much more composed than Manny. Surprisingly little action in the final round. Pacquiao chases Mayweather, who keeps dancing away. He is a very smart fighter, is Money. He dances away and pumps his fist in the final 10 seconds of the round.
Mayweather lands a hard combination to the head. Pacquiao manages to get Mayweather in the corner but doesn’t land anything significant and Mayweather is able to roll out and counter. Mayweather lands one last right before the bell goes and then has a go verbally at Manny.
Pacquiao keeps trying to catch Mayweather in a corner but is wary of the counter. Mayweather, most of the time, is able to extricate himself from danger. Neither boxer landed many punches but Mayweather able to stay marginally ahead. He is fighting the smart fight.
Pacquiao looks to be a tiring a little. Mayweather is still throwing that jab and keeping Pacquiao away from him. Mayweather tags Manny with a right when Manny tries to get inside. Floyd lands a couple more hard rights. Another round to him. As usual, he is proving hard to hit.
Mayweather starts the round by landing a stiff jab. Manny comes back with a straight left. Then a flurry by Manny where he lands another left. Mayweather replies witha couple of jabs to the body and then a right the head. Floyd catches Manny with a left hook.
Referee has a word with Money about putting Pacquiao in a headlock. Mayweather has done that a few times in this fight already. Pacquiao catches Floyd with another hard right. He is starting to get through Mayweather’s defenses more frequently. He is taking the fight to Mayweather.
Pacquiao starts to get at Money. Traps him on the ropes again and unloads on him. Floyd covers up and mouths to Manny that he isn’t hurt. But Pacquiao bossed this round. He is showing Mone that he can get to him. Landed a couple of good left hands.
At the half-way mark, the consensus score is 58-56 to Mayweather.
Back to cagey boxing. Mayweather continues to land more punches than Manny. Manny having a hard time getting past Mayweather’s jab.
Pacquiao catches Mayweather with a strong left and finally gets Mayweather on the ropes. Money instantly covers up while Pacquiao throws combinations and the crowd roars in approval. Most of the blows slide off Mayweather’s elbows though but Pacquiao starting to impress himself upon this fight.
After four rounds, I make the score 39-37 in favour of Money..
Everytime Pacquiao gets Mayweather in a corner, Floyd resorts to clinching to get out of danger. Pacquiao finally lands a solid right and Floyd doesn’t like it. They trade a flurry of punches at the end of the round and then glare at each other. Pacquiao still unable to find a way to get inside.
Round Two
Mayweather continuing to target the body. Pacquiao traps Mayweather in the corner briefly but can’t land anything substantial before Mayweather slips away. Chants of Manny, Manny from the crowd. Pacquiao tries to force the pace and charges Mayweather but again, can’t land any solid blows. More frenetic action in this round but nothing significant yet.
Should be another round for Mayweather, so he is up 20-18.
