Olympic bronze medalist boxer MC Mary Kom had her gall bladder removed after undergoing keyhole surgery on Tuesday. A

says that the procedure was done at the private Shija Hospital and Research Institute (SHRI) in Imphal. Her husband Onler Kom said that she has been complaining of abdominal pain over the last few months. [caption id=“attachment_1101369” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]

He was also quoted as saying: “A few days ago, after she experienced a severe bout of pain, we rushed her to a nearby hospital where the doctors confirmed the presence of stones in her gall bladder and advised her to go in for gall bladder removal surgery.” The five-time boxing World Champion was promoted to the post of superintendent of police (sports) after her performance at the London Olympics and is now involved with building her boxing academy. The MC Mary Kom Regional Boxing Foundation is in Imphal and over 30 children are learning boxing from Mary and a few local coaches.
