Manu Bhaker finished fourth in the women's 25m pistol shooting event and capped a magnificent campaign at the 2024 Paris Olympics with an unprecedented two medals on Saturday.

The 22-year-old Bhaker shot 28 in the eight-women final to miss out on completing a hat-trick of medals at a single Olympic Games. She lost to Hungarian bronze medallist Veronika Major in the shoot-off.
“I was very nervous in the final. There is always the next time and I’m looking forward to it,” she told broadcaster JioCinema. “I got nervous about it. I was trying my best to keep calm and tried to do my best but not enough,” she added on the shoot-off.
Before Bhaker, no Indian athlete had claimed more than one medal at an Olympic edition.
Earlier at the sporting spectacle, Bhaker had won bronze in the individual 10m air pistol competition and then combined with Sarabjot Singh to claim another third-place finish in the 10m air pistol mixed team event.
Bhaker’s second bronze had made her the first Indian since Independence to win two medals at the same Olympic Games.
“I am glad that I got two medals but right now, fourth place is not very good. I have been off of social media or checking my phone. I tried to deliver my performance. Today I did not deliver as good,” said the shooter.
After a disappointing Tokyo 2020, this has been a stellar show from Bhaker. She is already looking forward to doing better at Los Angeles 2028. “The moment my match was over, I was already thinking ’next time'.
