Two-time Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker has hit back at online trolls who have regularly taken a dig at her for her frequent public appearances and showcasing the medals. Bhaker at the Paris Olympics 2024 became the first Indian female shooter to win a medal for the country and also the first from independent India to win two Olympic medals (both bronze) in a single edition. Still, she has been constantly targetted by online trolls for a series of public appearances since the Olympics.
Bhaker, 22, had also faced immense trolling after the Tokyo Olympics 2020 when she failed to reach the final in any of her three shooting events. An indomitable spirit, Bhaker, hit back against the trolls on X with a direct message. She wrote: “The two bronze medals I won at the Paris 2024 Olympics belong to India. Whenever I am invited for any event and asked to show these medals, I do it with pride. This is my way of sharing my beautiful journey.”

Earlier while speaking to a newspaper recently, she had questioned why she should not be displaying her medals at public events.
“I will, yeah! Why will I not?” Manu told the Times of India when asked about her being trolled for showing medals at public events.
She also added that organisers ask her to bring the medals to the events.
“Everyone has this feeling to show the medal which is why I carry it in case someone wants to see it. They even make a request saying, ‘Please, bring your medal along’ and when I do bring it, several pictures get snapped at these events,” she added.
