Man City fan gets Man United tattoo to raise money for son's rare condition treatment

Mark Pinder is a hero. He’s also shown that nothing can stand in the way of family. The Manchester City fan kept his promise of getting a Manchester United tattoo done on his leg if he managed to raise £10,000 for the treatment of his son who has a rare condition. [caption id=“attachment_2376920” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]  The tattoo was the club crest. AFP[/caption] Pinder’s son Kirk suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. It’s an incurable condition that causes the body’s muscles to deteriorate and reduces life expectancy. “Kirk is confined to a wheelchair, cannot lift his arms and will soon have to have steel rods inserted into his spine to keep it straight,” a Manchester Evening News report read. “All you can do its watch your child deteriorate in front of you. They rely on you to do everything. It’s hard. When you can’t see your child running around and playing football like other kids it really hits you,” Pinder told the paper. “I was just trying to think of something different other than running. This seemed quite different so I was hoping it would pull City and United fans together and get them to donate which it has done,” Pinder was quoted as saying by BBC Radio 5 Live. Pinder has been a season ticket holder since he was 14-years-old and already has a City tattoo on his arm. In fact, fans of both clubs (and other donors) thought so highly of Pinder’s promise that they kept donating despite the target being reached. As of today, more than £11,000 has been raised.
