The Turkish rider had a see-saw battle with Lowes untill the 12th lap, when he overtook him for good. “It was a near perfect race for us and I am very happy that me and the team have started the campaign on the winning note,” Sofuoglu said in the statement. Sofuoglu’s teammate Fabien Foret, who started in third slipped a spot in the race and missed out on a podium finish. “Despite finishing second and third in qualifying we knew that we had a very good chance to finish at the pole and Sofouglu was fantastic today,” Chairman and Managing Director of the team, Arun Pandey, said. Mahi Racing is the first Indian team to take part in the World Super-sport Championship, a 15-round championship.
