Lodha Panel reforms: BCCI Working Committee to discuss Compliance Report on Monday

New Delhi: The working committee of the BCCI will be meeting in the capital tomorrow to discuss about the ‘First Compliance Report’ on the implementation of the various recommendations made by the Supreme Court-appointed Lodha Committee. As per Lodha Committee’s directive after meeting BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke on August 9, the ‘Compliance Report’ needs to be submitted to the three-member panel by August 25 and that is the reason why the BCCI top brass have summoned the meeting. In the interim, BCCI has already filed a review petition with the Supreme Court asking for recusal of Chief Justice of India TS Thakur. According to sources, Shirke has already filed a detailed report of his meeting with the Lodha Panel and what all transpired during the discussions. The Lodha Panel has directed the BCCI to start with an 11-point execution of the proposed reforms – a first set which needs to be completed by September 30 and the next set by October 15. The points that are expected to be mentioned in the first Compliance report will be those that need to be implemented by September 30. It is expected that the first Compliance Report will contain the details as to what BCCI is doing in regards to ‘Amendment of Constitutions’ of state association, adoption of the rules pertaining to Memorandum of Associations (MoA), rotation of voting rights (in Maharashtra and Gujarat with multiple affiliated units), Code of Conduct for Players and Officials in IPL as well as amendments in the Anti-Corruption Code. Another important point that is expected to be mentioned in the first report will be disbursement of annual grants among the affiliated units and the tender invitation for various contracts including the lucrative TV deal for IPL, which is up for grabs. It will be interesting to see the steps taken by the BCCI on the proposed Players’ Association as well as making Puducherry an associate member.
