(Please refresh for the latest. Updates every 5 overs) 2121 IST: Bangladesh 293-5 after 49.2 overs M Rahim 46, Mahmudullah 4 Bangladesh have the last laugh, vital contributions down the order for them and they made it look easy in the end. Tendulkar got his 100th ton but Bangladesh got the win. Well done. Shakib Al Hasan’s innings – 49 off 31 balls turned the tide and Rahim weighed in with some big shots of his own. India’s bowlers were poor: full tosses all the way and at crucial junctures. 2107 IST: Bangladesh 272-4 after 48 overs M Rahim 33, N Hossain 51 What an over for Bangladesh – 17 runs came off it. Rahim slammed two consecutive sixes off Pathan to turn things around in a jiffy. Bangaldesh need 16 off 12 balls to win. This is their match to win or lose. 2056 IST: Bangladesh 253-4 after 46 overs M Rahim 18, N Hossain 48 Bangaldesh deserve a lot of credit for running India close but now they need to start winning matches too. Just taking the match down to the wire is not going to do it for them any more – they need to win. However, that’s easier said than done. They’ve beaten India just twice in ODIs. 2040 IST: Bangladesh 224-4 after 41.5 overs Shakib Al Hasan st Dhoni b Ashwin 49 (31b, 5x4, 2x6) Big, big wicket for India. Shakib was making all the right moves, hitting all the big shots and this should turn the tide. The ball turned almost square and that’s what really fooled Shakib and Dhoni did the rest. [/caption] 2027 IST: Bangladesh 208-3 after 40 overs Shakib Al Hasan 39, N Hossain 34 So that’s that. 60 balls remaining and 82 runs needed to win. It’s pretty even really. And in the age of T20, this should be a match that Bangladesh should be able to win. India, if they get some wickets, can turn this around but expect this to go down to the wire. 1956 IST: Bangladesh 156-3 after 33.5 overs Tamim Iqbal c Jadeja b Kumar 70 (99b, 6x4) Big wicket for India. Tamim was making it count. Playing shots all around the wicket and keeping the home team in the hunt but his wicket might alter things greatly. Now Shakib Al Hasan will need to play a crucial part for the hosts. 1935 IST: Bangladesh 129-2 after 28.5 overs J Islam c Sharma b Jadeja 53 (68b, 4x4, 1x6) Finally a wicket. The 113-run partnership is over and India can get on with the game. A few more wickets should tilt the balance in favour of India. 1915 IST: Bangladesh 92-1 after 22 overs T Iqbal 44, J Islam 40 India are in desperate need of a wicket here. The longer Bangladesh go without a wicket, the more tense India’s bowlers will get and it needs to be said that India doesn’t have the best attack. 1849 IST: Bangladesh 69-1 after 16 overs T Iqbal 33, J Islam 28 Bangladesh going pretty strong now. They’ve found their groove for now and India are looking pretty ordinary. Tamim has destroyed India’s hopes once before and he has a good chance of doing it again. Off twitter, @FirstpostSports: After watching Tendulkar’s 100th ton, we have to watch Dinda bowl. Is there no justice? 1805 IST: Bangladesh 15-1 after 5 overs Nazimuddin c Sharma b Kumar 5 And Bangladesh lose their first wicket. Praveen Kumar strikes for India. Rohit Sharma takes a perfect catch at short extra cover to send back Nazimuddin who would be kicking himself for hitting that terrible shot. Jahurul Islam is the new man in. 1745 IST: The Bangladeshi openers Nazimuddin and Tamim Iqbal are out on the ground. Praveen Kumar will open proceedings for India. 1728 IST: Sachin Tendulkar on his 100th ton “I can’t think of anything at this stage. It’s been a tough phase for me. It shows that even if you have 99 hundred, you still have to put your head down to get another century. I started off the season batting reasonably well, i was luckless. I was not thinking about the milestone, the media started all this, where ever I went, the restaurant, room service, everyone was talking about the 100th hundred. Nobody talked about my 99 hundreds. It was slightly different, the ball was not coming onto the bat. It hasn’t sunk in but I’ve definitely lost about 50 kilos. Doesn’t matter how many hundreds you’ve scored, you still have to put your head down and score for the team. Dreams do come true. I had to wait for one for 22 years (the World Cup).” 1724 IST: India 289-5 after 50 overs Dhoni 21, Jadeja 4 It’s ended. The innings and the wait. India don’t have the biggest total on board and if India lose this, let’s not blame Tendulkar. The wicket isn’t the quickest one but India’s bowlers should be good enough to make the most of this. 1701 IST: India 259-4 after 46.5 overs S Tendulkar c †Mushfiqur Rahim b Mortaza 114 (147b, 12x4, 1x6) Raina departed first but then Tendulkar too perished. The crowd was on it’s feet as the master walked back. Tendulkar moved his left foot out of the way and went for the slog, got the edge but today, nothing else matters. It’s done. PM Manmohan Singh, Sports Minister Ajay Maken have all sent them congratulatory messages already. Off twitter, @rajeshstats: Tendulkar needed only 65 innings to move from 91st to 100 centuries… despite taking 34 inngs to move from 99 to 100. 1642 IST: India 226-2 after 43.4 overs Tendulkar 100 (138 balls, 10 fours, 1 six) 100. Finally. It took it’s time coming but it’s finally done. It’s over. The monkey is finally off his back. It’s off India’s back as well. Phew. A single off Shakib Al Hasan did the trick. The value of a single and all that jazz. Very subdued celebration but he looks relieved. The hairstyle looks strange though. But nothing matters today — Take a bow, Sachin. 1635 IST: India 220-2 after 43 overs Tendulkar 99, Raina 27 First ball, Raina hits a six. Then takes a two. A wide follows and then finally a single. Sachin plays out two dot balls. Arghhhhh. Get it over with. 1624 IST: India 210-2 after 42 overs Tendulkar 99, Raina 18 99. That’s all that matters. Focus, focus, focus. 1624 IST: India 208-2 after 41 overs Tendulkar 98, Raina 17 The match doesn’t exist anymore. It’s all Sachin. Every run is cheered, every appeal followed by a huge groan. 1618 IST: India 203-2 after 40 overs Tendulkar 95, Raina 16 A four off the first ball and a single a couple of balls later saw Tendulkar move to 95 in quick time. What tension. If it’s like this for us, imagine being in his shoes… it must be crazy. Do it today. In ODIs, Sachin Tendulkar has been out in the 90s on 17 occasions. 1615 IST: India 195-2 after 39 overs Tendulkar 90, Raina 16 Aren’t the 90s when Tendulkar made his legend? Time to do it again. He is into the 90s and he looks like a schoolboy. Raina trying to throw his bat around but the march is slow and steady. 1609 IST: India 188-2 after 38 overs Tendulkar 89, Raina 11 Big appeal against Raina off the last ball but he survives. Tendulkar meanwhile has disappeared. No shots, no nothing. He just wants to stay there and get his 100th ton but there’s a match to be won no? 1600 IST: India 181-2 after 37 overs Tendulkar 88, Raina 6 The slow crawl continues and the batting PowerPlay isn’t helping. It means that there are more fielders protecting the singles and given that Sachin is trying to get to the landmark in singles, it makes his job more difficult. Raina has come in and he is looking very good. 1600 IST: India 173-2 after 35.5 overs V Kohli b Abdur Razzak 66 (82b, 5x4) Kohli does it for Sachin. He takes a blow for the master. Played on, just like Gambhir before him, shots that betray the slowness of the track. Hopefully, Tendulkar continues to roll on, not sure we can take much more of this. 1550 IST: India 169-1 after 35 overs Tendulkar 87, Kohli 63 Five fielders in the circle for Tendulkar and the master just seems a little jittery. He picked up a ball from the middle stump and dispatched it for four in the 35th over but it was a pretty desperate shot. No need to do that. This is where the going gets really tough for him. He has his demons to fight. 1530 IST: India 154-1 after 30 overs Tendulkar 78, Kohli 57 The day has arrived again. Watch each ball, slowly make it to 90 and do not get bogged down. To not try and do it only in singles. Play normally, please play normally. We’ve seen Tendulkar get dragged down and out as he nears the landmark, let him not do it again. 1510 IST: India 125-1 after 25 overs Tendulkar 62, Kohli 44 Good stuff by the Indian batsmen. They aren’t going berserk but they are batting Bangladesh out of the match in the the best way possible. Slow and easy. Tendulkar is in cruise mode but he needs to continue playing his natural game. [/caption] 1456 IST: India 98-1 after 20 overs Tendulkar 54, Kohli 26 Tendulkar gets to his first ODI fifty after 9 innings. His last 50(85) had come against Pakistan in the WC semi-final. This has been a classy innings – no undue risks, no getting bogged down. This is great stuff. And in a sense, it helps to have Virat Kohli at the other end. He has been India’s best batsman for a while now. 1435 IST: India 69-1 after 15 overs Tendulkar 36, Kohli 21 Tendulkar has hit six boundaries in his knock already and he is making this look easy. Kohli at the other end is struggling with the pace of the wicket but as he so often does, he’s found a way to make this work. The Bangladesh attack isn’t one that takes a lot of wickets, they just try to keep the runs down to a minimum. This indeed is Tendulkar’s best chance to get to his… 1416 IST: India 49-1 after 10 overs Tendulkar 26, Kohli 10 Tendulkar still there in the middle, he’s survived a very close calls and been beaten a few times but he’s there and looking good as he has so often that we now are to believe that looking good means nothing for all it takes is a moment of madness and you are walking back to the pavilion 1350 IST: India 25-1 after 5.5 overs G Gambhir b Shafiul Islam 11 (16b, 1x4) Gone, the dreaded inside edge claims another wicket! Shafiul angled it across the left-hander, Gambhir didn’t move his feet and tried to drive, the thick inside edge crashed into the base of the middle stump. [caption id=“attachment_246937” align=“alignleft” width=“380” caption=“Tendulkar best chance? PTI”]
[/caption] Pre-match Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field. And since nobody cares about Sachin’s innings today, can we say the pressure is off? With all eyes focussed on the budget and Pranab Da, the Indian team is enjoying a rare moment of solitude. India’s starting XI: Gambhir, Tendulkar, Kohli, Rohit, Raina, Dhoni, Jadeja, Irfan, Ashwin, Praveen, Dinda B’desh starting XI: Tamim, Nazimuddin, Jahurul, Mushfiqur, Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah, Hossain,Mortaza, Razzak, Shafiul, Shahadat Hossain
