Massive day for Chelsea fans, who have had a torrid week.  First, the loss to West Bromwich in the English Premier League and then the hammering in Turin at the hands of Juventus in the Champions League have left them off the top of the table, on the brink of a European exit and with a new manager that most of their fans don't seem to like.

Can Torres get back to scoring form? AP

But that is how the club operates and now Russian owner Roman Abramovich has brought on Rafael Benitez at the helm of things, with champions Manchester City his first hurdle.

It's not going to be easy in any way for the Spaniard, but the one hope he does bring is his ability to get the best out of Fernando Torres. The striker has cut a forlorn figure since his 50 million pound arrival from Liverpool, and despite a little resurgence early in the season, has failed to convince fans of his worth.

With Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole also set to leave the Blues at the end of the season, this is time for a new age at Chelsea. And it all starts now.
