Yuvraj Singh will captain the the India A team against West India for three one-day games and a solitary T20. Yuvraj has not been part of India’s plans – either the senior team of any of the ‘A’ teams – since being dropped during England’s tour at the start of the year. Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Zaheer Khan, all of whom have not been part of India’s senior squad this year, have been picked for the second and third four-day games against West Indies A, but miss out on the first game. Cheteshwar Pujara was named captain for both teams. The BCCI did not explain why two different teams were selected for the three four-day games. Irfan is also part of the squad for the limited-overs part of the West Indies A tour. In all, the BCCI named the squads for five different teams after its selection committee met at Vishakhapatnam on Tuesday, the board said in a statement. Gambhir has been playing for Essex in an attempt to rediscover his form. He made a hundred in his last game for the county side, before returning to India for personal reasons. Both Yuvraj and Zaheer have been working hard on their fitness in a bid to regain their places in the India XI. Sourabh Tiwary, who was initially part of the India Red squad, has undergone a shoulder operation, and has therefore been ruled out of the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy, as a result. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked Ishank Jaggi as his replacement.
