Mohali: Statistical highlights of the ICC World T20 match between India and Australia, at the IS Bindra PCA Stadium in Mohali on Sunday. — Virat Kohli’s unbeaten match-winning knock of 82 off 51 balls is his highest score in T20Is in India — his second highest in this format behind the 90 not out vs Australia at Adelaide on 26 January, 2016. — Kohli’s excellent innings is the highest by an Indian batsman in successful chases in T20Is, bettering his own record. He had scored an unbeaten 78 off 61 balls vs Pakistan in a World Cup fixture at Colombo (RPS) on 30 September, 2012. — Kohli, with his aforesaid innings, has joined Chris Gayle (two centuries and 13 fifties)and Brendon McCullum (two centuries and 13 fifties), equalling a record for most fifty-plus innings in T20Is. Mike Hussey — 65.14 (456 runs in 15 innings) has the next best. — Kohli has got his ninth ‘Man of the Match’ (MoM) award. Only Shahid Afridi has received more MoM awards (11) than Kohli. — Kohli has been adjudged the ‘Man of the Match’ three times in nine matches vs Australia — the most by a player against Australia, surpassing the two each by Chris Gayle, Umar Akmal and Yuvraj Singh. His superb tally of six MoM awards this year is the most by any player in a caledar year in T20Is, eclipsing the five by Shane Watson in 2012. — India enjoys brilliant record vs Australia, winning 9 and losing four out of 13 played in T20Is - success percentage of 69.23 - the most by them against any nation. — Australia’s tally of nine losses is the most suffered by them against any opponent in T20Is. — India have won six matches in succession vs Australia between 10 October, 2013 and 27 March, 2016. Their sequence of victories equalls England’s six in succession between 5 February, 2008 and 9 February, 2013 against New Zealand (amongst the top eight nations). — Glenn Maxwell (31 off 28 balls) has recorded his highest score vs India in T20Is, bettering the 27 at Rajkot on 10 October, 2013. — Aaron Finch has registered his third successive forty-plus innings vs India in T20Is — 44 at Adelaide on 26 January, 2016; 74 at Melbourne on 29 January and 43 at Mohali on 27 March. He has averaged 48.66 vs India in six innings — his tally being 292, including five innings of 35-plus. — Ravichandran Ashwin, playing in his 42nd match, has become the first Indian bowler to complete 50 wickets (ave.21.74) in T20Is. — Kohli’s outstanding average in successful chases is 122.83 - his tally being 737 in 15 innings, including eight fifties — both records in T20Is. — Kohli has posted four fifties vs Australia in consecutive innings in T20Is — 90 not out at Adelaide on 26 January, 2016, followed by 59 not out at Melbourne on 29 January; 50 at Sydney on 31 January and 82 not out at Mohali on 27 March. — Kohli took just 39 innings to reach his 1500 runs — the fastest by a batsman to this feat in T20Is. — Australia have managed 53 in their first four overs — their second highest in T20Is next only to the 55 vs West Indies at Sydney on 23 February, 2010. — Mahendra Singh Dhoni has effected 60 dismissals (39 catches + 21 stumpings) in 67 matches, equalling Pakistan’s Kamran Akmal’s tally of 60 (28 catches + 32 stumpings) in 54 matches. — Shane Watson, with 302 runs at an average of 50.33 in eight innings, is the first Australian batsman to complete 300 runs vs India in T20Is. His average is the highest by an Australian batsman vs India in T20Is (minimum 100 runs). — Dhoni and Kohli were associated in a match-winning unbroken partnership of 67 — India’s second-highest for the fifth wicket vs Australia in World T20 next only to the 84 between Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh at Dhaka on 30 March, 2014. — The above stand is the first fifty-run stand by Dhoni-Kohli pair in T20Is. Their superb average of 84.66 is the highest by any Indian pair in T20Is — their tally being 254 runs in ten innings (seven times not out). PTI
