Kirti Azad attacks BCCI; questions IPL's council's silence on Srini

New Delhi: Former cricketer and BJP MP Kirti Azad on Thursday attacked the BCCI over the ongoing controversy involving N Srinivasan and questioned the “silence” of the IPL Governing Council in the matter. He said the issue was just the “tip of the iceberg” and alleged that many people in the governing body had conflict of interest. PTI[/caption] The apex court today asked Srinivasan to furnish details of shareholding of India Cements and composition of its Board member as well as details about who controls Chennai Super Kings, owned by the company. It also proposed BCCI election can be held but persons named in Mudgal report will not contest and new board will take decision on IPL-6 scam. Srinivasan’s son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan’s name figured in the Supreme Court appointed Mudgal committee report constituted to investigate the match-fixing charges. “The BCCI and the IPL are above law as those who are in the governing council are holding high positions. They are also from different political parties. There are many in the governing council who have conflict of interest,” said Azad. “This is just the tip of the iceberg. Why did the governing council chose to close its eyes when the whole mess was taking place?” Azad, who has been a strong critic of the BCCI, said. PTI
